Get ready to celebrate the power of youth, community and creativity at the 2026 Battle of the Bands hosted by The Basement Door, a charity dedicated to empowering young people through live music, skills training and performance opportunities. This exciting annual competition invites emerging young bands from across the region to take the stage, showcase their talent and compete for top honours, all in support of The Basement Door’s mission to nurture confidence, collaboration and real-world experience in a safe, supportive environment. With music as the driving force, the 2026 Battle of the Bands promises unforgettable performances, community spirit and a celebration of the next generation of musicians
Please note that to take part you must complete one Band Application and an Individual Member Application for each performer
The Process
The competition will take part in 3 rounds:

Online submissions (22nd February - 8th March)

The Heats - 2 heats of 8 bands. Top 4 from each night advance to the final.

Arthur Cotterell Theater
The Arthur Cotterell Theatre (ACT) is a versatile, 176-to-300-seat performance venue located within Kingston College on Kingston Hall Road (KT1 2AQ). It hosts concerts, dance, and drama, serving as a hub for both student work and community arts, including the annual International Youth Arts Festival

THE FINALS
27th June
The Rose Theatre, located in Kingston upon Thames, is a premier South West London venue that opened in 2008, known for its 900-seat, Elizabethan-style circular design. It offers a diverse mix of classic drama, musicals, comedy, and family-friendly shows, while serving as a community hub for education and, as of early 2026, hosting high-profile productions with acclaimed actors.
Judging Criteria
Bands perform three songs: An original, a cover of their own choosing and an original or cover of their choice
Bands are scored on the following:
Technical/Musical Proficiency - 30 Points
Performance/Audience Engagement - 30 Points
Preparation/Act Construction - 20 Points
Creativity/Originality - 20 Points

Senior Category Winners 2025
THE BADGERS
The band has been gigging 2 years and have played at many Basement Door gigs including Fusebox, Mazda stage, Dubs at the Park and with many other youth band providers such as
JOM and Ampfarm.


Junior Category Winners 2025 BEVERAGE OF THE WISE
The band started in early 2023. They have performed for a Youth Awards event, an RNLI charity fundraiser & Youth Fair for a second year in 2024 and most recently at Rocktober Fest. They are now focusing on
creating their own original songs.

This event allowed us to network with other bands, opportunity for social media content, and allowed us to play two great shows, in front of sell out crowds.
