Who we are
Launched in 2008, we've been using our expertise and resources to run youth events for more than 19 years. From small beginnings as a Youth Project at The Vineyard, in Richmond, we've been working to grow The Basement Door and its impact, expanding from just one town to now providing training, supporting young people and putting on music events in more than 10 locations across South West London.
We provide training in sound engineering, stage lighting, event management, hospitality, photography and videography whilst providing real life experience that employers want and giving performance opportunities to over 700 young musicians per year.

Why We Are Needed
The UK faces a serious skills gap. A high percentage of young people are not in education or employment, and many leave school without the skills they need to succeed in the real world. We work with schools, universities, businesses and influencers to provide training and experience in a wide range of areas through music events.
With higher number of applicants for every job available, real world experience is invaluable - whether as a musician doing regular performances, managing the sound or lighting desk, planning an event or looking after our customers.
Our Values
Empowering
We provide a community where young people can express themselves through their own music, develop friendships and gain new skills.
Inclusive
We welcome and engage diverse voices to make our community welcome to all.
Impactful
We measure the impact of our work through the levels of training delivered, the feedback of our young people and the number of opportunities given.
Courageous
We encourage our young people to be confident, creative, innovative, authentic and ambitious in order to reach their full potential.
Responsible
We challenge ourselves to deliver the best for our young people but we also challenge our young people to support and develop each other.
