Our Policies & Procedures
At TDB we are committed to delivering our Youth Program in a welcoming, sustainable, inclusive and safe environment. To achieve that we work to the standards set out in the policies below. Our policies are regularly reviewed by the Management Board to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
If you have any comments or feedback on the policies below contact us here.

Safeguarding
Children and young people occupy a central place within TBD and our work. We strongly believe that all children and young people have the right to be treated fairly, justly and have the right to freedom from abuse and harm.
If you think a child is in immediate danger, contact the police on 999. If you're worried about a child but they are not in immediate danger, you should share your concerns.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
The Basement Door (TBD) is committed to encouraging diversity and eliminating discrimination in both its role as an employer and as a provider of services to young people. TBD aims to create a culture that:
-
Respects and values each other’s’ differences
-
That promotes dignity, equality and diversity
-
That encourages individuals to develop and maximise their true potential

Health & Safety
The Basement Door is committed to providing a safe, healthy and supportive environment for all volunteers, young people, participants, visitors and members of the public involved in our activities.
As a mobile charity operating across a range of venues — including cafés, pubs, community spaces, festivals, outdoor events and fairs — we recognise our responsibility to manage health and safety appropriately in a variety of environments.
Photography & Filming
We recognise that the sharing of photographs and films of our activities celebrates the successes and achievements of our children and young people. They are also key to providing a record of our activities and raise awareness of our organisation. However the welfare of the children and young people taking part in our activities is paramount and children, their parents and carers have a right to decide whether their images are taken and how these may be used.

Data Protection
We are committed to protecting the privacy, safety and personal information of all users of our web/mobile applications. We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and our organisational safeguarding responsibilities.
The information collected through the app is used only for legitimate purposes including participation in activities, communication, event management, safeguarding, and the delivery and improvement of our services. Where personal information relates to children, young people, or adults at risk, it will be handled with additional care and in line with TBD’s Safeguarding Policy.

Anti Bullying Policy
The Basement Door is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for all young people, volunteers and participants. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated. Bullying includes behaviour that is repetitive, intentional and involves an imbalance of power. It can take many forms, including physical; verbal; social bullying such as exclusion or spreading rumours; and cyberbullying through social media, messaging or online platforms. Any concerns about bullying should be reported to a Lead Volunteer or safeguarding lead and will be taken seriously, responded to promptly.
